Each country within the E.U. has its own VAT systems. Each of these systems generates a VAT number that covers sales within Europe but outside the country where your business is headquartered.

To help you better understand the registration process, we’ve outlined the steps needed to get a VAT number, using Ireland as an example:

  1. Go to the Irish VAT MOSS mini one-stop-shop. This will allow you to register by clicking on the “register” link.'

  2. Clicking on the link will navigate you to a second page where it asks you to enter your company information and bank account details.

  3. Once you enter the correct information, you’ll be navigated to another screen where you’re prompted to enter your personal contact information.

  4. From there, you’ll be asked about your company’s VAT history. Are you currently registered for VAT MOSS services in any member state? Have you previously been registered for VAT MOSS in any member state? Answer yes or no.

  5. After you enter your VAT MOSS history, you’re done! The portal will send you to a summary page where you can review all the information you entered. Make sure that it’s all correct.

At the bottom of the summary screen, you’ll see an expected date for the assignment of your VAT MOSS number. All you have to do is summary screen, and click “continue.”
